Serestely Szilard is a documentary filmmaker and cinematographer, based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

With nearly a decade of experience, Szilard’s work is rooted in observational, character-driven storytelling that blends documentary sensibilities with a naturalistic visual approach. He works across documentary film, visual journalism, and branded content. He has worked as a cameraman for TVR (National Cable TV), PressOne and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. His commercial and institutional collaborations include Red Bull, Babeș-Bolyai University, and the Transylvanian International Film Festival (TIFF).

Beyond his commissioned work, Szilard is the founder of Rotric Revista, an independent, self-published skateboard magazine dedicated to highlighting the Romanian skateboarding community. He also directs and produces video content for the magazine’s YouTube channel, continuing his commitment to authentic, community-driven storytelling.

Szilard holds a B.A. in Cinematography, Photography, and Media, as well as an M.A. in The Art of Short Films from Babeș-Bolyai University. His documentary Poftiți vă rog received multiple distinctions, including the Audience Award and Best Documentary at the Filmul de Piatra Film Festival, along with the Golden Brush Award in the TIFF Local Competition, offered by Fabrica de Pensule.
